The Ministry of Sports & Recreation and the National Sports Authority (NSA) play vital roles in supporting and overseeing the Ghana Badminton Grand Slam. The Ministry, led by Hon. Kofi Adams, shapes sports policies, ensuring infrastructure development and funding, as seen with the Borteyman Sports Complex for the 2023 African Games. The NSA, established under the Sports Act 2016, promotes and manages competitive sports, collaborating with the Ghana Badminton to organize the Grand Slam’s 5 tournaments across 78 nations. Together, they enhance grassroots development, talent nurturing, and international recognition, aligning with Ghana badminton sporting legacy since 1979.

In 1957 under the name “Yoneyama Company Ltd”, the company focused on the evolution of manufacturing strong wooden badminton rackets for other brands. In 1974, the company and brand name was changed to Yonex.

Yonex is now a world leader in badminton, golf & tennis equipment and are proud to be the title partner of the Ghana Badminton Grand Slam 2025 Championships. The tournament has been very popular amongst the badminton professionals and has received worldwide recognition.

Commissioned on Feb 13, 2024, by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, this $145M, 100-acre facility in Borteyman (22km from UG, Legon) reflects sporting excellence, with plans to expand to $190M for a Sports University. Hosting the Games boosts Adenta’s heritage, inspiring communities and athletes continent-wide. It fosters grassroots sports, enhances resident health, and nurtures talent, with facilities like badminton and tennis driving a lasting legacy.

Borteyman Sports Complex Badminton Hall

Since its commissioning in 2024, the Borteyman Sports Complex Badminton Hall has established itself as a premier venue in Adenta Municipality, hosting top-tier badminton events, training camps, and community programs. Whether it’s the Ghana Badminton Grand Slam with 78 nations or local tournaments, this state-of-the-art hall, part of a $145M complex, offers an electrifying experience for up to 1,000 fans. From elite competitions to grassroots development, it’s a hub for unforgettable sporting moments. Partnering with the National Sports Authority, the Borteyman Badminton Hall is proud to be a cornerstone of Ghana’s sporting legacy, delivering world-class events since its opening.
